Oil Painting with Craig Jefferson

4 week course introducing an approach to using oil paint, beginning Monday 19th Feb, 10-12pm.

Working from simple still life set ups we’ll consider the following;

Week 1 – Shapes of tone. Organising a composition in shapes of tone.

Week 2 – Colour temperature. Describing form with a warm and a cool colour.

Week 3 – Colour Theory. Working with three primaries to create a full palette.

Week 4 – Mark Making and Line. Considering the possibilities of directional mark making and the effect of line.

Around this basic structure there will be plenty of room for discussion about application of oil paint, different working surfaces, approaches to different subjects etc.
